MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested three suspected members of the dreaded Akyat Bahay robbery gang while escaping with some P.3 million worth of loot Tuesday in Caloocan City.
Alexander Yap, 32; JayR Pantoja, 24; both residents of Bagumbong, Caloocan City North, and Romeo So, 32, of Batasan Hills, Quezon City, also yielded two motorcycles and a .38 caliber revolver.
Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen, Caloocan City police acting chief, said the suspects were intercepted by the cops from the North Extension Office, led by Superintendent Rio Gatacilo and Senior Inspector Ronald Perilla, along Congressional Road in Barangay 171 at around 3:30 a.m.
“The suspects were caught red-handed with the items they took from a house in Bagumbong,” Quibuyen told The STAR.
SPO1 Joselito delos Reyes, Caloocan City police station investigator, said Helen Tonio sought police assistance at around 3 a.m. claiming unidentified men broke into her house and carted away several of her belongings. The victim waited for the robbers to leave with two motorcycles without license plates before calling for police assistance.
Gatacilo and Perilla led the NEO police operatives in scouring the area for the fleeing suspects and chanced upon them along Congressional Road.
