MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City government tapped its Reformed Department of Public Safety and Traffic Manage (RDPSTM) rescue team to conduct earthquake and fire drills in all public schools in the city.
Mayor Enrico Echiverri also directed RDPSTM chief Alfonso Sta. Maria to coordinate with private school officials who want to hold the same disaster preparedness exercises for their students.
Echiverri said it is important for pupils to know what to do during emergencies, and tasked the RDPSTM to teach them, especially the new enrollees, how to properly react in such situations.
“We can’t predict when disaster would occur, so it is of utmost importance that pupils must be taught survival techniques for them to properly react when calamity strikes,” Echiverri said.
