MANILA, Philippines - Unidentified men stabbed dead two teenage sisters during a bungled robbery in Caloocan City Saturday.
Police Officer 3 Allan Budios, Caloocan City police North Extension Office (NEO) investigator, identified the fatalities as Jonalyn Yumul, 19, and Jocelyn Yumul, 17, both residents of Barangay 167.
“We already have a suspect in the incident but I could not give more details because of the ongoing follow-up operation,” Budios told The STAR yesterday.
The victims were fast asleep in their rented house at Ber-nabe Compound in Llano, Caloocan City when the robbers entered their room by destroying a window at around 1:30 a.m.
The noise created by the robbers scouring for valuables awakened the two victims, who shouted for help.
The robbers stabbed the sisters, then fled on foot toward Llano Road.
Neighbors rushed the victims to the Quezon City General Hospital, where Jonalyn died at around 4:35 a.m. while undergoing treatment for her stab wounds.
“We were informed yesterday by the hospital that the younger victim also died due to her wounds,” Budios said.
Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen, Caloocan City acting police chief, directed the NEO police officers to hunt down and arrest the suspects.
