MANILA, Philippines - A family in Las Piñas City stabbed dead a construction worker while a father reportedly helped his son kill a man with whom he had an argument, both on Sunday night, police said yesterday.
Police Officer 3 Richard Credo said witnesses saw Tony, Jigs, and Nonoy Ganabe – all of legal age – reportedly “stab and hack” construction worker Joey Enriquez, 27, who was sitting in front of his house in St. Louie Village, Talon 3 at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Enriquez suffered stab wounds in the chest and a hack wound on his left arm. He was rushed to the Las Piñas District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The Ganabes reportedly fled after the attack.
Enriquez’s remains lie at the Mesina Funeral Homes in Pulanglupa.
In Quezon City, Ernesto Armea, 45, has been arrested for allegedly helping his son kill Tonel Mingidita, 25, at around 8 p.m. Sunday.
Armea’s 24-year-old son John Richard, 24, who was reportedly the one who stabbed the victim, remains at large.
Police said Mingidita died upon arrival at East Avenue Medical Center due to a stab wound in the back.
Just before the killing, the victim and John Richard had an argument but were pacified by bystanders in Barangay Pasong Tamo.
After the altercation, the victim was walking home toward Barangay Sauyo when he was confronted by Ernesto. This resulted in a heated argument between the two.
In the middle of the argument, John Richard allegedly attacked Mingidita. He and his father quickly fled as the victim fell.
Responding policemen apprehended the elder Armea during a follow-up operation.
