MANILA, Philippines - Four men were killed after the car they were riding went out of control and crashed against a concrete electric post in Quezon City yesterday morning.
Traffic Sector 4 head Chief Inspector John Escasa Ganzon identified two of the fatalities as Davidson Viray, 33; and Vernon Sydney Sio, 29, who was driving the Nissan Exalta (WNJ-101).
Ganzon said they are not yet certain whether Sio was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Traffic investigator SPO1 Perlito Datu said the incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. along P. Tuazon Boulevard in Barangay Kaunlaran, Cubao, Quezon City.
Datu said when the Exalta came near the boulevard’s intersection with Benitez street, the car went out of control, veered into the opposite lane and slammed against a concrete post.
The victims were all taken to the East Avenue Medical Center, where they were later declared dead on arrival.
Police recovered a laptop and four cell phones belonging to the victims, but two wallets were missing. Police believe the wallets may have been taken by those who were first on the scene.
