2 rob suspects nabbed in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines - Two alleged members of a five-man robbery gang were arrested after the group robbed a passenger jeepney yesterday morning in Caloocan City.

Northern Police District director Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao Jr. identified the suspects as Mark Jess Bauang, 20; and Romnick Yñego, 22; both residents of Libis Espina also in Caloocan. The arrested suspects pointed to a certain Alfred Gonzales, also of Libis Espina as their alleged leader and named their two cohorts only as Jerry and Jun-Jun. The three remained at large.

PO1 Reymel Villanueva of the NPD-District Investigation and Detective Management Division said that the suspects, who posed as passengers of a jeepney driven by Adelito Cimagala, robbed their fellow passengers while they were cruising along Dagat-Dagatan Avenue, corner Tanigue street at around 4:30 a.m. Armed with handguns and knives, the robbers divested the cash, mobile phones and other valuables of the victims Lolita Valencia, 53; Angel Araña, 37; Melody Noche, 31; and Darwin Noche, 20; a nursing student. The suspects alighted upon reaching Libis Espina and disappeared in darkened alleys. The victims sought the assistance of the NPD police officers.   – Pete Laude
