MANILA, Philippines - A 64-year-old farmer stabbed dead his nephew after a three-hour drinking spree at the former’s house in Quezon City at past midnight yesterday.
Police said victim Francisco Gallego, 39, an electrician in Antipolo, Rizal, went to the house of his uncle, Fausto Casiguran, in Sitio Kumunoy, Barangay Bagong Silangan Saturday night for a drinking session.
“Then they talked about a (piece of) land they inherited and divided and had a heated argument about it,” Police Officer 1 Rodrigo Barrameda told The Star, noting that both the victim and the suspect are from Northern Samar.
Barrameda said Casiguran’s son, Danilo, pacified the two men. When Gallego left his uncle’s house and made his way to the tricycle terminal, Casiguran attacked and stabbed him twice in the chest at around 1 a.m. Casiguran remains at large.
Gallego said Casiguran will be charged with murder before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office. – Michael Punongbayan
