MANILA, Philippines - The body of a helper was found hanging on the outside of a five-story building in Quezon City yesterday morning.
Residents of Barangay Baesa knocked on the gate of the building after spotting the body of Roger Oranza, 23, suspended by a five-meter nylon rope around his neck, with the other end tied to steel bars from the rooftop.
Police Officer 3 Jaime Jimena said Oranza worked as a helper at the shop. Jimena said the man had reportedly served time in jail for theft.
He said Oranza was last seen alive at around 2 a.m. yesterday and co-workers thought he had gone to sleep after having a drinking session with them.
His family and co-workers did not know why he apparently committed suicide.
Meanwhile, at past 9 a.m. yesterday, the body of 17-year-old Robin Macasilaig, was found hanging from the steel beams of a guitar shop in Barangay Sto. Domingo
Police Officer 3 Joel Gagaza said the shop owner and workers arrived at the shop and were calling Macasilaig, a stay-in worker at the shop, to open the door.
The shop owner and the teenager’s co-workers were all unaware of what drove Macasilaig to take his own life, police said. – Reinir Padua
