MANILA, Philippines - Former actress Aurora Sevilla was arrested Thursday while in the act of selling a gram of shabu worth P1,000 to a buyer in Mandaluyong City.
Senior Superintendent Carlos de Sagun, Mandaluyong City police chief said Sevilla yielded another .02 gram of shabu in her left pocket during a subsequent search.
Sevilla and a barker, Rodney Chuidan, 31, who bought the shabu from her, have been detained at the Mandaluyong City police station while police officers prepare charges against them.
De Sagun said he dispatched Senior Inspector Hubert Pascual, head of the city’s anti-illegal drugs task force, after receiving a tip at about 10 p.m. Thursday.
Pascual arrested Sevilla after she handed a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 to Chuidan along Kalentong street. Sevilla and Chuidan did not resist arrest.
According to De Sagun, Chuidan identified Sevilla as the source of illegal drugs recovered from him.
Sevilla initially denied the allegations against her, but later confessed during a television interview.
De Sagun said they received reports of Sevilla’s drug pushing activities for the past several months, but he clarified that the former actress was not included in the city’s watchlist of drug suspects. – Non Alquitran
