2 drug pushing suspects arrested in Bicutan

MANILA, Philippines - Two suspected drug pushers were arrested by the Taguig City police in separate buy-bust operations over the weekend.

Taguig police chief Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan identified the suspects as Anthony Gellie, 30, alias Anton or Boy Silver, of Purok 2 in Barangay Lower Bicutan; and Giovanni Austin, alias Borot, of Barangay Upper Bicutan. Both are in the police watchlist.

Cascolan said Gellie reportedly uses minors to buy shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from his suppliers and accepts stolen goods from his clients in lieu of cash.

According to Cascolan, Austin is reportedly behind the proliferation of shabu at Purok 5 in Barangay Upper Bicutan.

“More arrests will be made, and no one will be spared. I call on our constituents to be vigilant and help us in arresting these drug pushers. People can relay information about drug activities happening in their community to the 24/7 city hotline, 1623,” Mayor Sigfrido Tiñga said.

He added that they will put up a reward system for informants, and the tips received by the police will remain confidential.

Gellie has been charged with drug pushing and maintaining a drug den, while Austin was also charged for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.           – Rhodina Villanueva
