MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will soon install cameras at loading and unloading bays along EDSA to apprehend bus drivers overstaying at these platforms to get more passengers.
MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando said they will put closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras on the timers on the loading and unloading bays. He said buses should only pick up or unload passengers for 15 seconds.
Fernando warned that bus drivers could be cited several times for violating the 15-second rule. He said buses overstaying at loading and unloading bays are one cause of traffic jams along EDSA.
Earlier, seven MMDA traffic enforcers were dismissed from the service after they were caught on video extorting money from bus drivers who were staying longer at certain loading and unloading bays. – philstar.com
