Informant shot dead in drug deal gone wrong

MANILA, Philippines – A police informant was gunned down during a drug deal with one of the pushers who was arrested in the past after the victim tipped off the police.

Christina Bautista, in her early 20s, was killed on the spot from several gunshot wounds. Police Officer 3 Jaime Jimena said the killing happened at around 5 p.m. on Friday at the Salam Mosque Compound in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City.

According to Jimena, two of the suspects were known only as Jumong and Jamar. Another man was also said to be part of the attack.

Prior to the killing, Bautista and her companion, Kimberly Doup, went to Jamar’s house to buy shabu, but found Jamar with Jumong and the unidentified man.

Bautista whispered to Doup that Jumong had been arrested by the police for drug peddling and that she was the one who provided the information to the authorities.

Jamar and Jumong went out and walked a few meters away from the house, with Bautista and the third suspect following them. The unidentified man then pulled out a .45 caliber handgun and repeatedly shot Bautista.

Jimena said the suspects told Doup to leave or she would also be shot. This prompted her to run away.

Police officers from the Quezon City Police District-Station 3 arrived in the area and found Bautista’s body lying on the road.
