MANILA, Philippines - The body of an alleged victim of summary execution was found under a bridge in Tondo, Manila Saturday night, police said yesterday.
The unidentified man – about 30 to 35 years old, clad in a white t-shirt and briefs and with a “Bahala Na Gang” tattoo – was found by a pedestrian at around 10 p.m. under the Infanta Bridge near Velasquez street, according to a report from Homicide Section of Manila Police District (MPD).
The man sustained a gunshot wound in the head and multiple stab wounds all over his body. His face was wrapped with packaging tape.
Benjamin Cabral told police that he was walking under the bridge when he noticed the victim, who he thought was a man sleeping off the effects of too much drinking.
But upon getting a closer look, Cabral said he noticed the man was bloodied so he reported the incident to a nearby police precinct.
It was earlier reported several dead bodies in similar condition were found in the city over the past weeks.
Just last Friday, another alleged victim of summary execution was found along the Quezon Boulevard underpass in Quiapo. The MPD tactical operations center said the victim was found inside a black garbage bag, his head wrapped with packaging tape and with 29 stab wounds. The victim remains unidentified. – Edu Punay
