2 Japanese nationals robbed of cash, jewelry

MANILA, Philippines - Five unidentified suspects robbed two Japanese nationals of some P.5 million worth of jewelry including cash, and a car in Las Piñas City Tuesday afternoon.

Police Officer 3 Bobby Imbo of the Las Piñas Investigation Division, identified the victims as Takayoshi Taito, 72, and Kawamoto Toshihito, 73. Both are residents of Block 1, Lot 10, Third Street, Las Piñas Village, Pamplona 3, Las Piñas City.

Initial investigation showed that at around 1:30 p.m., the four suspects suddenly barged inside the victims’ house. While inside, the suspects tied the hands of the victims including the maid identified as Roselyn Ocnip, 23. They were brought and locked up in one room at the second floor of the house.

The suspects then started divesting the victims’ valuables such as pieces of jewelry worth P400,000 and cash amounting to P90,000. They escaped onboard the car they also stole from the victims, a maroon Toyota Avanza (ZMA-177).

The victims who, after a while, managed to untie themselves, went to the police station and reported the incident. – Rhodina Villanueva
