Pasay deploys police on crime-prone areas

MANILA, Philippines - A total of 150 police personnel were deployed in strategic as well as crime-prone areas that included bus terminals in Pasay City.

Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta, Pasay police chief, said that 100 policemen will focus on crime detection and prevention while the remaining 50 were assigned in different bus terminals spread all over the city.

“They were given orders to check on the safety of the passengers who will be going home to their respective provinces to observe Holy Week. Apart from being alert of suspicious characters, they will also go around to distribute leaflets printed with “Tips sa Iwas Krimen ngayong Semana Santa,” Petrasanta said.

He noted that leaflets are in fact advisory for the general public on what safety measures to undertake especially during long trips and what to do when they will be away from home for a number of days.

The Pasay police said there are more than 20 bus terminals spread in Pasay and noted the Philtranco terminal located along Apelo Cruz Street, the Golden Transport near Pasay Rotunda, the Celyrosa/Ferdinand/Blue Eagle bus station along Taft Avenue extension, the Five-Star bus station in Aurora Boulevard near Tramo and the Victory Liner Terminal along Edsa, Pasay to be the major bus stations situated in the city.  – Rhodina Villanueva
