Pasay fire destroys P40-million property

MANILA, Philippines - Some P40 million worth of property went up in smoke when a fire broke out at a residential area in Pasay City shortly after midnight Sunday.

Fire Officer 1 Robert Cobilla said the fire started at around 12:50 a.m. in the house of Perfecto Trinidad on Pestaniyas Street, Park Avenue, Pasay City.

Cobilla said the fire, which started in Trinidad’s kitchen quickly spread and destroyed around 35 houses.

The fire which reached the fifth alarm, was placed under control at 6:30 a.m. The fire was put out 40 minutes later after a total of 28 firetrucks responded at the scene.

Elements of the Pasay Fire Department have yet to determine the cause of the fire. No one was reported injured in the incident.   – Rhodina Villanueva
