MANILA, Philippines - A houseboy went wild when spurned by the young woman he was courting and attacked the girl and her mother with a bolo killing the older woman and critically wounding the teenager Tuesday night in Caloocan City.
Ferdinand Moncada, 19, a stay-in house helper in Barangay 179, Amaparo Subdivision, Caloocan City North, was arrested for the alleged killing of fellow helper Marlyn Coliz, 49, and the wounding of Coliz’s 15-year-old daughter.
Senior Inspector Ronald Perilla, Caloocan City police station North Extension Office intelligence and investigation unit chief, said the attack occurred in the house Moncada and the victims were serving in Barangay 179 at around 10 p.m.
The older Coliz died on the way to the Far Eastern University Hospital in Quezon City while her daughter remained in critical condition in the same hospital. Both sustained head and body hack wounds.
PO1 Mark Andrew Bartolome said the suspect was despondent for the girl he was courting for quite sometime continues to snub him.
Tuesday night, Moncada came face to face with the girl and her mother at the kitchen of the house they were working but became more downhearted when both mother and daughter rejected him.
The suspect went berserk, grabbed a jungle bolo and attacked the victims killing the mother on the spot and seriously wounding the young girl.
Barangay tanods arrested Moncada and turned him over to the police.
Perilla said the suspect told him that he only acted in self-defense and wrestled the bolo he used in Coliz and her daughter when the older victim first attacked him. “We are still conducting a deeper investigation but we will be filing homicide and frustrated homicide charges against Moncada,” Perilla said.
