The mother of a 14-year-old girl whose body was found floating in the Pasig River Thursday morning said she had an inkling of her daughter’s fate through a dream.
“I thought (my dream) was real as I heard (my daughter) pleading and crying out ‘Mama, Mama.’ When I opened the door she wasn’t there. Then I realized I was only dreaming,” Josie Ang, 49, told The STAR in Filipino in between sobs.
Later in the day, she confirmed her premonition at a Manila funeral parlor, where the body of her daughter Princess Sarah was being autopsied.
Princess Sarah, a first year student at the Makati High School, reportedly died from drowning, an initial autopsy showed. Her body was discovered among the piles of garbage floating at the riverbank near a hollow-block factory in Bacood, Sta. Mesa.
She was wearing her school blouse and her underwear. There were abrasions on her cheek and chin and contusions on both knees, officer-on-case PO1 Gerry Amores noted. A silver necklace with pendant “Khen,” a pair of silver earrings, a gold-plated anklet and metal hairpin were found on her body.
Princess Sarah’s parents, Reynaldo and Josie, who reside in Makati City, believed their daughter was killed. Josie said the last time she saw her daughter alive was at around 9 p.m. Tuesday after she arrived home from school. Her class schedule is from 12 noon to 7 p.m. Josie remembered her daughter telling her that she would be with her boyfriend Ken.
“I did not bother to check if she went out with Ken since I am busy putting my grandchild to sleep. But I begun to worry when she failed to return home,” Josie said.
Princess Sarah’s elder sister and brother started to look for her at the houses of their relatives and some classmates but their search proved futile.
Her brother, Jeff Rey, tried to contact Princess Sarah through her cell phone but the victim failed to answer despite repeated calls. Ken’s cell phone was off, Jeff Rey said.
Police is not ruling out foul play in Princess Sarah’s death as they await the complete results of the autopsy.
“Ken is the key to the solution of Princess Sarah’s death. He could also be a suspect as he remains elusive,” said Chief Inspector Alberto Peco, chief of the homicide section of the Manila Police District.
