A man with a reputation for being a neighborhood toughie went on a drunken rampage in Caloocan City Thursday night, killing two of his neighbors and seriously wounded two others, including a four-year-old boy.
City police chief Superintendent William Macavinta identified the fatalities as construction worker Antonio Gaspar, 50, and his live-in partner Clarinda Javier, 40, both residents of Bagumbong, Caloocan City North.
Gaspar’s son, Angel Joe, 26, and his grandson Jonathan, 4, are being treated for gunshot wounds at the Jose Rodriguez Hospital in Tala.
Suspect Rogelio Ronquillo, 55, has gone into hiding, bringing with him the .45 caliber pistol he used to shoot his neighbors.
Senior Inspector Ronald Perilla, Caloocan City police North Extension Office intelligence and investigation branch chief, said they do not yet know what prompted Ronquillo to shoot his neighbors.
According to Perilla, Ronquillo has a pending attempted homicide case at a Caloocan City court for allegedly shooting at another neighbor’s house.
Perilla said Ronquillo, who raises hogs and ducks in his backyard, often terrorized his neighbors by firing his gun when one of his animals went missing.
