The Manila City Hall has ordered the immediate closure of the New Antipolo Market, operated by the New Antipolo Entrepreneur & Development Corp., after the city government found that the establishment had no mayor’s permit and no municipal license needed for their operation.
The closure order, signed by Secretary to the Mayor, Lawyer Rafaelito Garayblas, said the New Antipolo Market had been operating without the mayor’s permit and license as wet and dry private market. Neither did it seek a franchise from the city council, Garayblas also said.
Garayblas said even its 10 service personnel had no occupational permits and the building itself had no fire safety inspection certificates nor electrical inspection clearance and sanitary permit. Further, the establishment had no garbage fee receipt for approximately 300 stalls located there, said the city hall official.
“Our record shows that despite final notice served on Aug. 1, 2008, you have not settled/complied with the above noted deficiencies,” Garayblas said.
The New Antipolo Market, located at the NAEDC Building, is operated by Loreto Roque and Delfin Alcoreza, said lawyer Renato de la Cruz, Manila’s City legal officer. The closure will be implemented by Nelson Alivio, director of the Bureau of Permits, retired Col. Alex Gutierrez, station commander District Special Project Unit and the Manila Police District. – Sandy Araneta
