A former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) that arrived recently from New Zealand and reportedly suffers from anxiety disorder committed suicide yesterday by hanging himself with a nylon cord inside his house in Marikina City.
Christopher Cruz, 33, who currently works as a call center agent, was found dead by his wife Mahalia, 34, in the patio of their house at No. 31 Gen. Ordonez street, Rancho Estate 4, Barangay Concepcion Dos at about 2: 45 a.m.
The victim hanged himself with a nylon cord that was tied on the steel grill of their patio.
Superintendent Sotero Ramos Jr., Marikina City police chief said Cruz arrived in the country four months ago from New Zealand.
Mahalia claimed that her husband is suffering from an anxiety disorder.
At about 1 a.m. yesterday, Cruz, who was roused from his sleep, left his wife in their bedroom to take his medicine.
When the victim failed to return after an hour, Mahalia followed her husband.
Ramos said Mahalia was shocked to discover her husband hanging at the patio of their house.
The wife immediately called the assistance of his father, Rene who reported the incident to the Marikina Rescue 161.
Responding members of the Marikina Rescue 161 revealed that the victim was already dead when they arrived at the house.
