A construction worker died at a construction site on Edsa Tuesday night after falling off six floors in an open elevator shaft.
Police officer 3 Joseph Madrid said the body of Jenery Cedillo, 28, was found by a co-worker at around 9:45 p.m. at the sixth floor of the elevator shaft.
Based on investigation, Madrid said Cedillo fell off from the 12th floor of the said elevator shaft.
The ongoing project was supposed to be for a 35-storey building near the GMA Metro Rail Transit station in Quezon City.
Prior to the incident, Cedillo reportedly told his co-workers he would just go out to get them some rice for dinner.
Moments later, his co-workers reportedly heard a “bang,” but ignored it since it was common sound at any construction site. His co-workers began looking for Cedillo when he failed to immediately return. – Reinir Padua
