2 hurt in Pandacan grenade blast

Two people were injured and five vehicles damaged when a grenade thrown by two unidentified motorcycle-riding men at a businesswoman’s house exploded in Pandacan, Manila yesterday morning.

Barangay 856 Zone 93 executive officer Reynaldo Yabut, 62, suffered shrapnel wounds in his left leg while security guard Arturo Dominguez, 66, was wounded in the left foot.

Senior Inspector Oliver Navales of the Manila Police District’s Explosives and Ordnance Division said the two victims were having a conversation in front of Anita Buce’s house at the corner of Quirino Avenue and Paradise street at around 2 a.m. when the two suspects, riding in tandem on a motorcycle with no license plate, lobbed a PRB 423 fragmentation grenade. The suspects were wearing helmets and red jackets.

The vehicles damaged by the explosion were a blue Toyota Corolla (WKT-127), owned by Buce; a green  Nissan Frontier (XMH-107), owned by lawyer Jaime dela Cruz; a white Mitsubishi Adventure (XNS-909); a green Starex van (WGH-516); and a brown Toyota Revo (WJH –647).
