The Quezon City government has commended former assemblyman Rogelio Quiambao for his public and socio-civic contributions, including his advocacy of looking to national hero Dr. Jose Rizal for inspiration in pursuing freedom and national development.
Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista and City Council majority floor leader Ariel Inton Jr. led city officials in presenting Quiambao with a copy of a resolution, which described the former lawmaker as “worthy of emulation and an inspiration to others.”
Quiambao once served as barangay captain of Socorro and was elected president of the Katipunan ng mga Barangay in Metro Manila, which led to the formation of the Metro Manila Commission.
As an assemblyman, Quiambao authored the Barangay Law, which established the barangay as the smallest unit of government.
Quiambao, who was a supreme commander of the Knights of Rizal, was also the recipient of Soka University’s highest award; the Ulirang Ama award in the fields of law and judiciary; and the Gintong Ama award. – Perseus Echeminada
