The Philippine Airlines is warning the public against buying or using airline tickets purchased with counterfeit credit cards through PAL’s online booking facility.
PAL vice president for corporate communication Rolando Estabillo advised travelers to transact only with its ticket office or duly accredited and reputable travel agencies.
PAL issued the advisory after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested 19 persons face charges before the Chief State Prosecutor’s Office for using counterfeit credit cards to buy PAL tickets online. The figure includes the 14 passengers who bought the tickets sold to them by one of the two middlemen, who got the tickets from three prime suspects.
If the respondents are found guilty of violating the access devices law (Republic Act 8484), they can be jailed for 20 years. – Rudy Santos
