Dog aficionados have organized a new canine club, which they claim provides an alternative venue for dog owners to register their dogs.
Asian Kennel Club Union of the Philippines Inc. (AKCUPI) president and chief executive officer Bernie Repaldo said they formed the club to serve as a registry for pedigreed dogs.
Repaldo is a former official of the Philippine Canine Club Inc., which was the only registry in the country until the AKCUPI was organized.
He said their club would be more than happy to assist dog owners in enrolling their pets in dog obedience schools.
AKCUPI promotions and marketing officer Erwin Alegado said the club is affiliated with the Kennel Club Union of Asia.
Aside from purebreds, Alegado said AKCUPI members adhere to the belief of animal welfare groups that every dog – whether purebred, mixed breed, or Aspin (Asong Pinoy or Filipino dog) – deserve care and love from their owners. – Jaime Laude
