Trader critically hurt in bungled slay try

A 34-year-old trader was critically wounded in a failed slay attempt by two unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen before dawn yesterday in Malabon City.

Noel Tabor, a resident of Barangay Niugan, Malabon City, engaged in buying and selling of scrap metal and recyclable waste materials, is now confined at the Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital due to bullet wounds in the foot, arm and body.

Police Officer 1 Rommel Habig, of the Malabon City police investigation unit, said that Tabor was driving his owner-type jeep (UJB-800), with a certain Marlon, when waylaid by the suspects at the corner of Damson and Reflexologist streets in Barangay Dampalit at around 2:30 a.m.

“The suspects positioned their motorcycle at the driver’s side and fired upon Tabor at close range but the victim was able to jump off his vehicle and sought assistance from the nearby barangay outpost despite his wounds,” Habig said.

Habig said that the first shot hit Tabor in the left arm and the bullet went through his body and while running for safety the suspects continued firing at him. He was again hit in the right foot. – Pete Laude
