A 34-year-old man was shot dead by his landlord after they argued over the 10-month period he had not paid rent for the house his family occupies in Barangay Pulang Lupa, Las Piñas City.
Senior Police Officer 1 Roland Abraham identified the victim as Luther Lumasag, a tenant in Velasquez Compound, Mapayapa Village.
Abraham said Lumasag’s daughter discovered his body slumped on his motorcycle at around 7 a.m. yesterday. He sustained two gunshot wounds – one in the head and the other in the chest.
Police found that at about 6:30 a.m., Lumasag was engaged in a conversation with landlord Danny Velasquez. The victim reportedly was not able to pay the house rent for the past 10 months.
Velasquez was asking payment from Lumasag, who claimed to be unable to pay. This resulted in a heated argument that prompted Velasquez to shoot Lumasag twice.
The police launched a manhunt against Velasquez, who escaped after the incident. – Rhodina Villanueva
