Fake engineer arrested

A man posing as an engineer of a noted contracting firm was arrested inside the premises of a bank in Valenzuela yesterday apparently while waiting for victims.

A team from the Northern Police District intelligence group collared Alexander Ramirez, 51, businessman, of Imelda steet in Barangay Gen. T. de Leon.

Upon arrest, Ramirez yielded a 9-inch fan knife and an identification card with ID number 105 issued to an “Engineer Amado Cruz” of the DM Consunji Inc. (DMCI).

Initial reports said the police received a call from a concerned citizen that suspicious-looking men were seen in the premises of the PCI-Equitable Bank along Gen. T. de Leon Road.

Police officers 2 Joselito Tayag, Randy Veran and PO1 Ricky Pelicano rushed to the area to verify the report.

After a stake out the team collared the fake “engineer.” An ID card also showed Ramirez as project inspector for his buy-and-sell junk business. A fan knife was found in his left back pocket.

Ramirez told investigators later he was only a high school graduate.  Jerry Botial
