Woman arrested for pimping daughter

A woman was arrested after her 14-year-old daughter told authorities that her mother lured her into prostitution.

The Manila Police District (MPD)’s Women and Children Protection Center, led by Inspector Medina Olego rescued the teen at the Blue Moon Lodge in Sta. Cruz, Manila. The girl admitted having finished her sex services to a male client for P500.

Social Welfare officer Herminia Salonga sought police assistance following the girl’s escape from the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in January last year.

The minor was first rescued by the DSWD from an undisclosed sex den. However, she escaped when she asked to go to the bathroom during a medical check-up at the Philippine General Hospital.

Since then, the girl reportedly returned to prostitution. According to the DSWD, the girl suffers from a sexually transmitted disease and could endanger not only her life but also her sex customers as well.

Olego said the girl pointed to her mother, identified as Mila Zialcita, a vendor, of Tugatog, Malabon as her pimp. The girl said she started as a prostitute when she was 12 and it was her mother who provided her with clients.

The girl was brought back into the custody of the DSWD while Zialcita was charged with violating the laws against human trafficking and child abuse.   – Nestor Etolle
