Makati invites common-law couples for mass wedding

The Makati City government through its Museum and Cultural Affairs Office (MCAO) is inviting couples who have been living together for five years or more to avail themselves of the city-sponsored mass civil wedding to be held this June.

Mayor Jejomar Binay has announced that the Museum and Cultural Affairs Office (MCAO) is now accepting applicants for the mass civil wedding, which he will personally officiate at the City Hall Quadrangle.

“We are inviting long-time live-in partners residing in Makati to take this opportunity to make their relationship as husband and wife legal. This is also for the sake of their children, who will be made legitimate once they are married,” he said.

Binay and his wife, former Makati Mayor Dr. Elenita Binay, will serve as the ceremony’s primary sponsors, while the city’s councilors and department heads will serve as secondary sponsors at the wedding on June 4.

Launched in 1987, the mass wedding is held twice a year. Interested couples are advised to register first and know all other necessary details of the wedding at the MCAO office at the Museo ng Makati along J.P. Rizal street in Barangay Poblacion, Makati.  Rhodina Villanueva
