Two Czech nationals fell prey to a fake tourist guide who stole their money and passports the other night, Manila police said yesterday.
The victims, identified as Katerina Kuzekova and Nada Malkova, had just arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport when they met the suspect.
They told investigators from the Manila Police District General Assignment Section that the suspect offered to serve as their tourist guide.
Initial investigation showed that the suspect, who was riding a taxi with a driver, offered services to the two women and brought them to a bus terminal in Manila after learning they were going to Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
But when the tourists got off the taxi, the suspect and the driver sped away, bringing with them a black backpack with P31,000, 50 euros, 40 British pounds, a digital camera and their passports.
Probers said they would conduct further investigation to identify and locate the culprits. – Edu Punay
