Family killed in QC fire

A family of five was trapped to death when a two-hour fire broke out in their two-story apartment in a compound in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon, Novaliches, Quezon City shortly before dawn yesterday.

Chief Inspector Oscar Villegas, Quezon City Fire Marshall, identified the victims as businessman Michael Go, his wife Ana, and children Marjorie, Maverick and Manhin.

The fatalities were found by responding firemen locked inside one of the rooms of their residence, which also served as the warehouse of their hardware store.

Initial investigation showed that the fire broke out at 2:35 a.m. at the second floor of the building and rapidly spread through the whole compound owned by the victims.

The fire was put under control at 4:35 a.m.

“Reports from arson investigators said the family owned the Alliance Marketing and used the compound as their warehouse, store and at the same time, residence,” Villegas said. – Perseus Echeminada
