Quezon City policemen have intensified the crackdown against street criminals and resulted in the killing of three suspected robbers while two others were arrested and a counterfeit syndicate was busted in separate operations yesterdays.
Police Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula, Quezon City police director, reported to Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. that operatives of the District Police Intelligence Operation Unit (DPIOU) were on patrol along Commonwealth Ave. when the policemen spotted two motorcycle-riding men wearing no helmet and acting suspiciously.
The two suspects were ordered to slow down but instead of stopping the duo sped off which triggered a chase.
Policemen cornered the suspects near Feria Road, Old Balara, Quezon City, where a shootout occured between the policemen and the suspects.
The two still unidentified suspects were killed in the process. Recovered from the crime scene were two .38 caliber revolvers and the motorcycle.
In a separate incident, at about 12:02 a.m. yesterday, joint operatives of the Galas Police Station (PS-11), Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU) led by PCI Nicolas Torre, Chief District Operations Division (DOD) responded to a report of jeepney robbery/holdup along Quezon Avenue near Banawe. The jeepney is bound for Fairview.
The policemen aided by the barangay tanods scoured the area and spotted the suspects along Agno Extension corner D. Tuazon St. at Doña Josefa, Quezon City. The suspects opened fire at the approaching lawmen prompting the operatives to return fire resulting in the death of one still unidentified suspect.
Two others were arrested and were identified as Rodolfo Encina and Randy Cardenas. Police have launched a manhunt for their three other companions.
