After more than a week since election day, incumbent Muntinlupa City Vice Mayor Aldrin San Pedro was finally proclaimed the winning mayoralty bet in the city.
Though the tabulation of votes is still ongoing, the city’s Board of Canvassers said San Pedro has a wide lead over rival Loreta Fresnedi, wife of incumbent Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, prompting them to go on with the proclamation.
San Pedro and his running mate, re-electionist Rep. Ruffy Biazon, were proclaimed winners by the Comelec the other night.
Team Fresnedi’s Artemio Simundac won over opponent Ren-Ren Cayetano.
Despite delays caused by protests filed by their opponents, San Pedro said he is optimistic that they will come out victorious.
He added that their happiness is not complete since some of their teammates did not make it.
In Taguig, incumbent Vice Mayor George Elias will continue to serve the city as the BOC proclaimed him the winner of the vice mayoral race Tuesday night.
Elias garnered 71,459 votes against his rival, Loida Labao-Alzona, who had 69,660 votes.
The other candidates of the local party, Kilusang Diwa ng Taguig, (KDT) for District 2 congressman and councilors were also proclaimed winners.
Henry “June” Duenas won his bid to represent District 2 in Congress after earning 28,564 votes. His rivals, Jett Reyes and Arturo Alit had 27,107 and 22,264 votes, respectively.
The KDT’s winning councilors for District 1 are Allan Paul Cruz with 40,112 votes; Delio Santos, 37,379 votes; Gamaliel San Pedro, 35,466 votes; Ronnette Franco, 35,026 votes; Baltazar Mariategue, 33,116 votes; Jaime Labampa, 28,898 votes; and Baby Gloria Valenzuela, 26,353 votes.

KDT standard-bearer Mayor Sigfrido Tinga earlier won a fresh mandate with 103,620 votes compared to the 41,156 votes of his rival, Marianito Miranda.
During his proclamation, Tinga vowed to continue the services and programs he had started for the people. He also thanked his constituents and supporters for giving him the mandate to serve them for the third straight term.
The business community expressed confidence that the newly elected officials will continue to collectively implement the plans and programs for Taguig to become the country’s premier city by 2020.
