Tan’s appointment filled a two-year vacancy. The post was last occupied by retired police general Nestorio Gualberto, who was transferred to the Bureau of Customs.
Tan, who took his oath of office at the DOTC headquarters earlier this week in the presence of Secretary Leandro Mendoza, was formerly an assistant DOTC secretary for airport projects in the Visayas region.
He also paid a courtesy call yesterday afternoon on DOTC Assistant Secretary and LTO chief Reynaldo Berroya, who was also recently appointed to the LTO’s top post.
Tan assumed his post after the Commission on Elections granted the request of Deputy Executive Secretary Joaquin Lagonera for an exemption from the election-related ban on the transfer and appointment of personnel.
