Calixto was turned away by policemen securing the City Hall premises when he attempted to get inside the building on Monday to return to his job, despite a temporary restraining order (TRO) issued by the Court of Appeals on his suspension.
The TRO was the response of the appellate court to Calixto’s suspension ordered by the Office of the Ombudsman.
However, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) maintained that Calixto could not assume the mayoralty post pending a response from the CA on the DILG’s request for clarification on the TRO.
Interior Undersecretary Wencelito Andanar asked the CA to clarify some points, including the specific position which Calixto could be reinstated.
Calixto proceeded to the health center to have his blood pressure checked after the confrontation with anti-riot policemen led by Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Marietto Valerio. – Rhodina Villanueva
