Caloocan lists social welfare program achievements

At least 51,500 victims of fire, demolitions and flooding in Caloocan City last year were assisted by the local government through its basic social welfare programs, Mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri reported yesterday.

Echiverri said the City Social Welfare Department spearheaded the programs and projects for the needy residents of the city.

Also, the department has assisted around 600 people were served through its case planning and management program. Of the number, 19 were physically abused women, 18 abandoned and neglected elderly, 17 families in difficult circumstance, and 17 were abandoned and neglected women.

They also provided marriage counseling to 511 couples and stress and crisis management counseling to 24 individuals.

More than 1,600 families were given medical assistance, transportation assistance, financial assistance, burial assistance, rescue and protection assistance.
