Self-proclaimed NPA amazon arrested

A self-proclaimed lady hitman of the New People’s Army (NPA) who allegedly admitted of being tasked to assassinate the governor of Batanes province was nabbed by Manila police early dawn yesterday in San Andres Bukid.

In a report to Manila Police District (MPD) director Senior Superintendent Danilo Abarzosa, Sta. Ana police station chief Superintendent Rolando Mendoza identified the alleged NPA amazon as Bisit Guero, 30, alias "Kumander B" and "Ka Cita," a native of Basco, Batanes and a resident of San Andres Bukid, Manila. Police seized a caliber .38 revolver with five bullets from her.

According to Miranda, the woman proclaimed being an NPA member for two years now under the rebels’ Dibay Group, based in Basco.

Guero admitted during questioning that she was tasked by her unit to conduct surveillance and assassinate a certain Gov. Amante of Batanes. The current governor of the province, however, is Vicente Gato.

Miranda said Guero was arrested by patrolling police officers while brandishing a gun and challenging a man to a duel.

Guero gave up peacefully after seeing that she was surrounded by policemen.

Abarzosa ordered further investigation on the claims of the suspect to be conducted by the MPD’s intelligence unit while initial charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition were filed against her.
