Evangelista broke the world record held by former Kenyan national cager Joseph Odhiambo, who registered a dribbling record of 26 hours and 40 minutes during the NBA All Star-weekend in Houston last February.
Evangelista was among the 100 top finalists in the elimination rounds of the Astig Revicon Guinness Dribbling Challenge in Metro Manila, Davao, Cebu and Dagupan. The finals were held at the Pasay Sports Complex last month.
He told The STAR he started dribbling at 4 p.m. last Oct. 28 and until 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 for a dribbling feat that lasted 45 hours and 22 minutes. For breaking the new record he received a P500,000 check and a four-year college scholarship from sponsors of the competition.
Evangelistas feat will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records to make it official. Perseus Echeminada
