Firm loses payroll money to robbers

Police are on the trail of at least six unidentified armed men who robbed a Navotas firm employee of P265,000 in payroll money last Wednesday.

Geraldo dela Vega, 43, an employee of Asia Worldwide Weighing Services, told police that the suspects released him after getting hold of the money.

Dela Vega told police that at around 3:15 p.m. a dark green Toyota Revo with plate number RAZ-519 sideswiped his motorcyle as he was about to enter the gate of their office.

Three men, armed with handguns, got down and took the shaken Dela Vega and his backpack containing the payroll money aboard their vehicle. Three more men were onboard. They then sped off toward Caloocan City.

Dela Vega had just withdrawn the money from a bank. He was later dumped along C-5 Road in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Investigator PO3 Dante Majadas said police are looking deeper into what could be an "inside job" since the suspects knew the transactions Dela Vega made that day, as well as details about his personal life. — Pete Laude
