Crame cop killed in Pasay

A Camp Crame-based policeman was shot dead in Pasay City yesterday by a suspect who had pretended to be a fellow officer.

Police Officer 2 Joel Landicho, officer-on-case, identified the victim as SPO2 Alexander Arroyo, 44, assigned with the Special Service Group at Camp Crame.

Arroyo, sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.

He was dead on arrival at the Manila Adventist Medical Center.

His companion, Senior Inspector Praxides Dayao Jr., detailed with the Firearms and Explosives Division also in Camp Crame, was wounded in the right leg. He is being treated at the same hospital.

The suspect, identified as Ranulfo Anaricio, 26 and a resident of Quezon City, immediately fled after the shooting.

Initial investigation conducted by the police showed that around 3 a.m., the two officers met the suspect at a birthday party, where the latter introduced himself as a policeman.

Dayao and Arroyo, however, decided to verify Anaricio’s claim with personnel of Police Community Precinct 5 of the Pasay City police.

While the two cops were walking along D. Jorge street, the suspect got back at the officers by grabbing Arroyo’s firearm and shooting them. – Rhodina Villanueva
