1 dead in Mandaluyong gang war

A 21-year-old jobless man was arrested for stabbing dead a neighbor during a gang war in Mandaluyong City Wednesday night.

Ricky Oladine, of Block 38 Welfareville Compound in Barangay Addition Hills was collared by a police team led by Inspector Cesar Bejuna, head of the Special Operations Group (SOG), during a follow-up operation.

The suspect did not resist arrest.

Witnesses positively identified Oladine as one of the attackers of the victim, Marlon Estores, 38, who sustained multiple stab wounds in the body.

Estores and three other gangmates were waiting for the rains to stop in Welfareville when Oladine and a certain Nonong appeared from nowhere at about 11:30 p.m.

Oladine and Nonong belong to a rival gang, Bejuna said.

"Nagpapatila ng ulan ang biktima at kasama sa lugar ng biglang dumating ‘yong kaaway na grupo at nagrambulan na,"
said police prober PO2 Mariano Suarez.

Oladine and Nonong, armed with bladed weapons, cornered Estores at a street corner and stabbed him repeatedly.

The incident was witnessed by Estores’ friend, a certain Paulo.

Neighbors rushed Estores to the Mandaluyong City Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival. — Non Alquitran
