Bar gunman involved in other crimes — police

The gunman in the killing of six drivers in San Juan last July 9 has been tagged in a series of robbery cases and other crimes in Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan and Rizal, police said yesterday.

Records dug up by San Juan police chief Superintendent Rodelio Jocson showed that suspect, Henry Fong, 27, alias Henry Cuales, was involved in a San Juan robbery case in 2000.

"Hindi na siya tumira dito sa San Juan dahil kilala na siya," Jocson said.

Fong, an alleged member of the Sako robbery gang, was arrested in Marikina City last year, also for a robbery case. He managed to post bail.

After police released the suspect’s photo the other day, the intelligence division of the Bulacan provincial police office coordinated with Jocson, saying Fong and his group were also behind a series of robbery cases in the province last year.

Robbery victims claimed that they were holding a prayer meeting when Fong and his men, armed with handguns, entered the establishment and divested them of their cash and valuables.

The Bulacan police said other victims have surfaced and tagged Fong as among the men who robbed them.

Jocson said they are verifying reports that Fong and his group also raped some of their victims.

The San Juan police chief said several callers have provided information on the whereabouts of Fong.

"We are verifying all the reports filtering into my office," said Jocson, adding that two teams of police operatives are working to solve the case.

Fong was with his alleged lover, a certain Danica, a guest relations officer (GRO) of the Cheers and Beer KTV bar in Barangay Progreso, when he went into hiding after shooting to death Christopher Caedo, 35; Felix Alday, 28; Vladimer Bona, 35; Mario Pastorpili, 42; Ronald Macalad, 27, and Crispen Tambiolan, 40.

Jocson said Pastorpili, president of the Mix Driver’s Brotherhood Inc., was often seen talking to Danica. Fong’s jealousy triggered the shooting incident.

Fong emptied his caliber .45 automatic pistol on Pastorpili and his companions.

Fong, a part owner of the nearby Kambingan Grill, also called up a friend to tell him that he shot dead several persons inside a KTV bar.

"Alam na natin kung anong klaseng tao siya dahil sa sobrang haba ng listahan ng mga kaso niya. Kaya nanawagan tayo sa publiko na ireport kaagad sa malapit na pulisya ang kinaroroonan niya para makulong na siya," Jocson said. — Non Alquitran
