Superintendent Jimili Macaraeg, NPD-District Intelligence and Investigation Division (DIID) chief, identified the suspect as Prosie Montillana, 43, a resident of 218 Sitio 6, Barangay Catmon, Malabon City.
Montillana is wanted for the murder of Nilo Oliverio in Barangay Catmon, Malabon City on March 7, 2004.
The NPD-DIID agents, led by SPO4 Antonio Tenorio, swooped down on the 2-Oroz Videoke Bar and Restaurant in Malibay, Pasay City at around 11 p.m. after receiving reports that the suspect was spotted there.
By virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Benjamin Antonio of Malabon City Regional Trial Court (RTC), Branch 170, the NPD operatives arrested Montillana.
Interviewed in his cell, Montillana admitted to the crime.
"I’m not involved in any other crime, except the killing of Oliverio, who is also a known criminal in our area," Montillana said,
The suspect said he emptied his caliber .38 revolver on Oliverio to make sure that he would not survive.
"I don’t know how many times I hit him, but I made sure that I finished him off," Montillana said.
NPD director Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil commended yesterday Macaraeg’s men — SPO4 Romel Aggari, SPO1 Bonifacio de Guzman, PO3s Rodolfo Cruz Jr., Eddie Galamay, Robert Vecida, and Lorenzo Molina and their team leader, Tenorio — for the arrest of Montillana.
The NPD-DIID was set to turn over yesterday Montillana to the Malabon City Jail. — Pete Laude
