Spy cameras to monitor criminal activities in U-Belt

Criminals beware.

Spy cameras carried by policemen in civilian clothes will be all over the University Belt to monitor drug pushers, snatchers and other petty thieves.

Metro Manila Police chief Director Vidal Querol warned criminals that their activities will be easily detected by authorities and their identities revealed on video.

Criminals who will take advantage of the school opening rush to sell illegal drugs, especially shabu, to students will be easily caught, Querol said. The footage and pictures will be used as evidence against them in filing cases in court.

"Policemen with spy cameras and advance communication equipment will be deployed to different schools, he added.

Cellphone snatching and other petty crimes are expected to rise as students will go back to school early next month.

Querol first ordered the use of cameras by anti-riot policemen during the Labor Day rallies to ensure peaceful and orderly celebration. All mass actions last May 1 were orderly and peaceful.
