2 highway robbers nabbed

The quick response of policemen to a distress call while a highway robbery was in progress resulted in the arrest of two men in Valenzuela City on Saturday.

Superintendent Billy Beltran, Valenzuela City police chief, identified the suspects as Allan Abenido, 39; and Pepito Nemesa, 48; both residents of 4520 NPC Compound, Barangay Bagbaguin, Caloocan City North.

Police seized from the robbers two bladed weapons and a total of P1,850 in cash they reportedly divested from an Indian trader identified as Sukhjit Singh, 35, a resident of Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City.

SPO2 Jesus Sagisi said the victim was cruising along Barangay Bagbaguin road in Valenzuela City aboard his motorcycle when the two men blocked his path at around 9:05 a.m.

The armed men ordered the victim to stop. One of the suspects held the victim’s motorcycle while the other searched the victim’s pockets for cash. The suspects fled on foot afterwards.

Residents who witnessed the heist called Sub-station 1 for assistance.

Precinct commander Inspector Muammar Mukaram and his men immediately responded to the call and eventually arrested the two suspects.

Beltran said the two are still undergoing tactical interrogation to determine their possible involvement in other robbery- holdup cases. Pete Laude
