Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. personally handed plaques of appreciation to Aldren Olaguer and Ian Dorado of Bagong Silangan High School and Jonh Elmer Cruz of Sta Lucia High School, who won gold badges for their work.
The winning entries were exhibited for three days at the University of Hong Kong at Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon.
"The effort of the city government in improving the quality of education in the public education system has been paying off," Belmonte said.
The international art and design contest was participated in by 18 countries, represented by 395 schools organizations with 1,916 entries.
Participating countries included host Hong Kong, the Philippines, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, India, Iran, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore, Pakistan and Vietnam.
What made the honor doubly significant to Quezon City is the fact that besides winning three top prizes, it also contributed significantly to the over all performance of the Philippines in the competition.
Quezon City collected 23 class honors out of the total 42 class honors awarded to the country
Dr. Victoria Fuentes, city schools superintendent, congratulated the winning students, their advisers and schools for the achievement.
"The splendid performance should inspire us even more to strive for excellence in our effort in molding and nurturing a better future for our students," Fuentes said.
