Suspect in P2-M burglary caught

The leader of a gang of thieves was arrested last Saturday for the P2-million burglary at the house owned by the parents a Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) contestant Rico Robles in Malabon City.

Senior Superintendent Moises "Kamagong" Guevarra, Malabon City police chief, said Francisco Josue, 34, was caught during a follow-up operation at around 6 p.m.

Police seized from the suspect three diamond rings, an expensive wristwatch, a camera, two cellular phones, several earrings, pendants and imported perfumes.

Josue, a resident of Barangay Dampalit, Malabon City, has a standing warrant of arrest for robbery issued by a Malabon judge on Feb. 15, 2005.

Operatives from the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section-Special Operations Group (SIDMS-SOG), led by Chief Inspector Roland Mabbun, swooped down on Josue’s house and chanced upon the suspect after they received information of his involvement in the burglary.

The house of Ricardo Pascual, 55, businessman, father of Robles, was ransacked last Friday. He lost jewelry worth more than P2 million, P40,000 and $2,800 in cash.

Pascual, a resident of Barangay Dampalit, told police that he discovered that his house was broken into at around 3:30 p.m.Pete Laude
