NPD’s health unit chief cited

In recognition of the Northern Police District’s exemplary health care programs and activities for the cops, the Philippine National Police has adjudged its health chief as best medical officer of the year.

PNP chief Director General Arturo Lomibao, with the assistance of the Armed Forces of the Philippines surgeon general Brig. Gen. Rafael Regino presented an award to Chief Inspector Ophelia Ramos-Mangrobang, M.D., NPD’s medical unit head, for being the best "Medical Police Commissioned Officer for the Year 2005" in health service.

The awarding was held during the 12th anniversary celebration of the PNP’s Health Service in Camp Crame in Quezon City last Friday.

"I’m just doing my job, but to be recognized is an honor and an inspiration," Mangrobang said.

Superintendent Ma. Angela Manas-Vidal, NCRPO Health Service chief, said Mangrobang "has consistently shown ingenuity and exemplary performance in her assigned task."

Vidal also said Mangrobang’s efficiency and strong adherence to professionalism and dedication to duty has inspired her unit’s staff, composed of six nurses and a dentist, to better serve the 2,000-strong NPD .

Vidal also acknowledged the significant rule of the NPD’s Medical Unit during the Southeast Asian Games.

Mangrobang served as the head of PNP’s Region IV Health Service in 1996 to 2000 where she also received several commendations and recognitions for her dedication to service.

She was assigned as NPD’s Medical Unit chief in August 2000.Pete Laude
